Text: Genesis 38 : 27 – 30

[27] When the time came for her to give birth, it was discovered that she was going to have twins. [28] While she was in labor, one of them put out an arm; the midwife caught it, tied a red thread around it, and said, "This one was born first." [29] But he pulled his arm back, and his brother was born first. Then the midwife said, "So this is how you break your way out!" So he was named Perez.30 Then his brother was born with the red thread on his arm, and he was named Zerah.

Here is the tale of a set of twins just before they exited their mother’s womb. You may ask, why was there a need for a scarlet thread to be used? To differentiate who was born first. In biblical times, the firstborn was given certain unique rights, responsibilities, and privileges. A married couple’s firstborn male child was given priority and preeminence in the family, and the best of the inheritance. The nation of Israel is identified as God’s firstborn in the Bible (Exodus 4:22; Jeremiah 31:9); in other words, Israel held a special place of privilege and blessing among the nations.

Know this about life, to stay ahead, you must come with your head not your hand. Zerah came with his hand but didn't come first. Both babies wanted to be born first, but ultimately, Pharez was born first. We can infer from the story that Pharez means to be unleashed, to rush out, to rupture, to emerge violently. Zerah in this represents position robbers.

To burst forth, you have a role to play. You are always faced with two choices; the choice to grow or the choice to surrender. There is never a third choice, and to wait for a third choice is to surrender. There is nothing called wait and do nothing.

Life is a fight, it is a battle ground. Life requires that you get strong and fight. In order to be victorious, you have to fight for your destiny. How do you know when to fight? When do you need to fight? It is not hard to know. It's time to fight when success slips through your hands very easily. Are you facing any kind of demonic oppression or delays? Are you going through painfully hard times? Wake up now! Resist what you don’t want!

Because a great door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many who oppose me - 1 Corinthians 16 : 9.

What is your rightful due? Lay hold of it. Pray and take faith actions.
